Land Board.

The Board met on Monday. Present : ( The Commissioner of Crown Lands (in ] the chair), Messrs Heslop and Batten- ' bury. The following applications for-trans-fers were agreed to : W. Sangster to J. H. Henwood, sec 13, b 12, Waitara ,; R. ■ W. Knofflock to D. H. Knofflock, half interest in sec 23, b 4, Huiroa. A. R. Watkin applied for leave to sublet Bee 2 b 9, Ngatimaru, to Chas. N. Green, for three years from Ist January, 1902, at a rental cf £35 per annum. Agreed to. Mr W. G. Malone submitted declara- „ tion of compliance with provisions of | sub-sec 3of sec 83 of the Land Act, 1892, ■ in the application of mortgagor to transfer his interest in sub-lease of sec 3, ■ b 13,Pouatu, tolt.McCluggage. — Agreed to. . i Several applications for permission to ] mortgage were agreed to. ■ The Commissioner reported having invited applications for sec 21, b 11, Ngaire, | under sec 114 of the land Act, 1892, from the adjoining owners, to close' on the 13th inst. The action of the. Commissioner was confirmed, and it was resolved that J the arrangement D 9 carried pat ; in the - event of only one application being received on the above date the land be allotted to that applicant. The Commissioner reported that the ' following improved farm settlers were entitled to have their leases issued : — 1 Aaron Gate, sec 100, b 10, Pouatu ; and " Thomas Joyce, sec 37, b 13, and sec 38, b 14, Pouatu. The leases will be issued. ■ Three months' extension pf time, in which to effect required improvements, was granted to A. Spalding in respect of sec 10 and 11, b.,4, Hirpi. W. Billing applied for exemption from personal residence on sees 11 and 16, b 7, J Cape, so long as he resides on part sec 13, Tataraimaka. Granted. The Banger reported on a piece of waste land on Tawhiti-road," adjoining . sec 181, Patea district, b 6, Hawera S.D. It was resolved that the land be offered for sale to Mr John Mason, in terms of the Banger's report under sec 117 of the Land Act, 1802. Messrs M. and G. pash and" J. Arm- . strong applied for consent to a grant of timber and to tramway rights to. the New Plymouth Sash and Door Factory Company, Ltd., over sec 17, b 7, Egmont, and - sec 147, b 6, Egmont, respectively. The application was, agreed to, subject to payment of royalty, as per resolution of the previous meeting of the Board. . The Banger's report on sec 5, b 13, Waro, and 1, Pouato, surveyed by Mr Laing, was laid on the table, but consi deration was deferred pending access, to the sections being provided. " • } The Under Secretary for Crown Lands advised that there was no power to grant | land for Patea borough endowment at the Kaikura stream without special legis- j lation, and it was decided to advise the Patea Borough Council of the position. | Mr D'oley asked that the royalty de- J rived from sec 25, b 15, Ngatimaru, for , timber taken by the Koada Department * be credited to the rent of the land. Agreed to. An extension of time to 3 1st December next, in which to effect required improve- ] ments was granted to M. Hartigan, sen , in respect to 1 sec .12, b 6, Ngatimaru. J. W. Cornwall applied .to surrender sees 5 and 8, b 13, Muni, owing to ■ mis- ■. fortune, and asked that it be put up again ' or sale weighted with the valuation for improvements. — It was resolved that under the special circumstances the Board is willing to accept the surrender ; but "] cannot guarantee valuation for improvements, which is subject to inspection by - the Banger. C. H. Handley was granted leave to surrender seos 22 and 24, b 2, Upper Waitara, subject to payment of rent due on Ist July last. -, It was resolved that a special meeting of the Boaid be held at the Courthouse, Hawera, at 9.30 a.m., on the 21st instant, for examination of applicants for sections in the Tokaora Settlement. ] The Board then adjourned. \
