BOW LING.
Beautiful weather was experienced for the formal opening of the New Plymouth Bovling Club on Monday afternoon, and there was consequently a large attendance of members and their friends, the feminine element making the enclosure gay with colour. The opening speech was made by Mr Tisch (Vice-President) in the absence of the President, Mr Paul t whose genial presence was much missed on the green. Mr Tisch at the conclusion of a few appiopriate remarks, requested Mrs Paul to open the season, which she did, the jack skimming across the green to the accompaniment of a hearty cheer. Play then began, the lawn, which was in perfect order, being fully occupied. A dainty afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Paul, who was $ ' Misses Cunningham, Lawson, at^L The Town Band was to~Titfve~pla.yed .during the afternoon, but owing to the illness of Mr Hempton. _^hose residence is very near the green, it- was thoughtfully decided to omitj this^pa/t of the afternoon's programme.
