New Plymouth Co-operative Society.

« ADJOURNED MEETING. Thk adjourned half-yearly meeting of the New Plymouth Co-operative Society was held in ths large upstairs room of the Ddvon-street property at 2.15 o'clock on Saturday. There was a good attendance of shareholders. Mr J. B. Connett, the chairman of directors, presided. Tho following report and balance sheet were circulated among the members :—: — '• In presenting their hilt -yearly report your directors wish to point out that every effort is being made to reduce the book- debts, and by so doing to lessen the large amount at present being paid to the Bank by way of interest, thus insur'ng regular dividends in the future. The business in the Store Department for 'the half-year has not been satisfactory ; but the directors confidently anticipate I (through steps now being taken) that the business will steadily improve. Your directors recommend the payment of a dividend of 6 per cent, per annum, and a bonus on shareholders' purchases of 2£" per cent. You will be called upon to elect o.ie director in the place o£> Mr Bond, who retires by rotation", and one auditor in the place of A. B. R.
