London, August 17. — The newspapers admit that the honours in the test matches rest with the Australians, but contend that ii the uunnished matches had been played out England would have scored a majority of wins.
RESULTS OF TEST MATCHES.
First test match— Begun at Nottingham on June 1. Drawn. England, 193 and 153 for seven wickets ; Australia, 252 and 230 for eight wickets (innings declared closed), Pecond — Begun at Lords on June 15. Won by Australia by ten wickets and 3 runs. England, 206 and 240 ; Australia, 421 and 28 for no wickets.
Third — Begun p.t Leeds on June 29. Drawn, as isiu prevented play on the third day. Australia, 172 and 224 ; England, 220 and 19 for no wickets. Fourth — Begun at Manchester on July 17. Diawn. Australia, 196 and 3*i6 for seven wickets (inriags declared closed) ; England, 372 and 94 for three wickels.
Fifth —Began at Kensington Oval on August 14 Drawn. England, 576; Australia, 350 and 254 for five wickets
