At the half-yearly meeting of the Broken Hill Proprietary Mine, the Chairman said the prospects were assuiiog, but with regard to financial matters things were not yet so comfortable as ha would like them to be. In paying two dividends during the past half-year they had trenched upon the accrued profits to the extent of about £12,500. The liquid assets showed a balance over liabilitits of £440,C00.

A man named Parkinson was similiarly killed in Block 12 Mine.

Mci bourne, July 29. The report of the Victoria Racing Club shows the profit o* the year to be €9000. The Melbourne Cup Meeting profits were over £11,000 and on the Aulumn Meeting there was a loss of £'2350. Total stakes oaid for the season, £37,650.
