The following local Bills passed their final stages :— New Plymduth Borough Reserves and Streets Exchange, Wellington City Reclamation and Public Baths, Johnsonville School Reserves, Borough of Onehunga Water Supply, and Little River Domain Board Empowering. „ The Wellington City Streets Bill was committed. Considerable objeotion was taken .to the provisions of the measure, which propo es to enact tbat existing private streets and right-of-ways may be declared public streets. The objection against the Bill was that it would perpetuate the system of narrow streets. Motions that the Chairman leave the chair and that progress be reported were negatived first by 29 td 16, and second by 22 to 1. • , • Ihe member in charge of the Bill (Mr Eutcheaon) denied tbat the effect.of the Bill would be io perpetuate narrowstreets, and said it was the intention of the City Council to Widen these private streets and right of ways. On the House resuming after the supper adjournment, thqre was a countout on the* Bill, which was killed for the rest of the session.
