FOOTBALL.
FIRST JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. Star 11. met and defeated Hawera Juniors for the Fii st Junior Championship at Hawera on Frid.iy, ruuning up the big score of 18 points to nil. Hopkins scored the first try which was converted b 7 fc-troud ; then Stroud, Parker, and Bellringer scored a try apiece, none being converted ; and Stroud put the bill over the bar from a mark. The Hawera players had no show against the visitors. Mr G. Sjme acted as referee. The Star players complain that the referee kept continually warning them and threatening to order them off the field when there was no occasion to do so. This they state was especially noticeablo with the wing players on the Star side, they being hauled over the coals while the Hawera players, who were bustling just as much, escaped a reprimand.
The New Zealand Rugby has refused the request of the Wellington Union for a copy of tho evidence upon which the recent disqualification was based on tho ground that the men weie under tho control of tbe New Zealand Union, and some of the evidence was of a confidential nature.
It was also decided to take no action re providing members of the team with medals, a" the local unions were not unanimous.
