WESLEYAN QUARTERLY MEETING.

Tins was held in tho Whiteley Hall on Thursday, when there was v good attendance of officials, Rev C. H. Garland presiding. Special features were an afternoon session and tea. Mr Garland referred to the vitality of the church as manifested in iti scheme for a new edifice, in its spiritual activity, and in its outside work in the district. He differentiated fault-finding and criticism, shewing the usefulness of the latter. He threw out a number of suggestions for more effective work in tho church and circuit, one of which took practical shape, namely, the encouragement of the spread of healthy literature in the district.

In the evening a presentation was made to Mr E. Howell, who has removed to the Waitara circuit, of Crudon's Complete Concordance, and ono of tbe latest editions of the Oxford Biblo. Several of those present spoke of the high esteem in wh-ch Mr Howell s character and work wera hold.

A resolution was passed asking for the repeal of the CD. Act unless amended to apply equally to both sexes. A hoarty and unanimous invitation was given to Rev C. H. Garland for a third year in the circuit, and accepted by him. The meeting closed with the Benediction.
