STAR 11. DEFEAT WAIMATE. {Continued from yesterday.) Star 11., winners of the northern round, met and defeated Waimate, winnersof the coastal round, in the playoff round on Thursday afternoon. The gamo was played on the Recreation Grounds before a large nnmber of spectators, a fair proportion of whom applauded lustily for the visitors. Mr F. Smith, of Hawera, hold the referee's whistle. For the winners Holdaworth played a cool gamt at full, and got in some telling punts. Hurathouse at three quarters had not' many opportunities on the attack, but he played a good defensive game. Saddler played a very neat game, marking well, and kicking 1 with judgment. Beckett marked well, bat several times missed several good, opportunities by getting away too slowly. He, however, mado no mistakes, Moore was all there at five-eights, and waa instrumental in starting some fast open play.
