NEW PLYMOUTH BOWLING CLUB.

■ ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting was held is the Criterion Hotel on Thursday night. There was a good attendance of members Mr R. Cock, President, was io thb chair. There were also present Messrs J. Paul, J. C. Oeorge (hon. sec), P. R. Car the w, A. Gold water, F. W. Hall, J. Sanderson, P. S.' Canning, C. Ahier, S. W. Jackson, J. Yeale, W. Jenkinson, W. Morey, J. S. McKellar, S. Hill, T. Farlong, E. J. Allen, J. Knyvetfc, A Gray.H. Dempsey, J. C. Burrow, — Lewis, I). Dougherty, J. Blyth, F. L. Webster, T. Avery, A. Woodhead. Messrs R. G. Bauchope, A. B. R. Fookes, and G. H. Foote apologised for absence. The annual report showed that there was a credit balance of €19 8s 7d ; and that there .was an increase of membership. The report then dealt with the games that had been played during the season, which have already been reported in these colaains. Tho report also referred to the decision of the Northern Bowling Association that a competitor in a match may not use bowls drawing a less bias than No. 3. A new rule to meet the case will be posted in the pavilion next season. The report then mentioned that the Club-was not registered under the' Unclassified Societies Act, 1895, and arrangements made for an overdraft of £500 ; the solicitor had advised that the Club could not get a sufficient title to sec 764, and it was not expedient to spend more money on the section till itj, was the absolute property of the Club. The Club had, however, decided to erect a new pavilion, Mr Paul having made a generous gift of a portion of. his adjoining property in order to have the building erected. The money for the work and to discharge tho mortgage would bo met by issuing 25 debentures to members. The estimated cost of the pavilion is £14G. The report proceeded to state that the members would bo requested to ratify the selection of Messrs W.L. Newman, W. Morey, and R. Cock, and elect them trustees of the Club-.- -The report continued :— The repeated efforts to obtain a title to section 764 have not been suocessful, c ..a« already intimated, but Mr Samuel has suggested that a title might bo obtained under the Land Transfer Act, and if thia be found possible your Committee recommend- that simultaneously with it th& other, landed property "of the Club bo also brought under the ■Act, and, one title obtained for the whole, and' we strongly recommend that the ipecial resolutions passed by you shall be given effect to, and tho Club be registered under 'the " Unclassified Societies Registration Act, 1895, ' and tkat a Declaration of TrusT; be executed by "tho trustees The, report next dealt with the Clul tournaments ; the consideration of the ladies in pro-riding afternoon tea ; the donors of prizes ; the supervision of the green ; the next Association Tomnamenl to , bo hold at Napier iv January next ,and other matters. Tho membership oi the Club totals 74-50 playing and 24 hoEbiury members. A statement o! accounts was appended. Mr Mentyplay, of "Wellington, wa: appointed the Club's representative a the next meeting of tha Northen Bowling Association. Hi said the Club appeared to be on a prog perous career, and hoped that it would b continuous. —Mr Paul seconded th adoption, and congratulated the hon secretary on hi 3 lucid and exhaustive report, which, ho considered, was the bes ever presented to the Club. — Mr George the hon. secretary, said he had done hi best for the Club, and wished to add tha he had received help from Mr F. \Y Hall when he was unable to act througl abience. Dinglo, J Sanderson, and Archdeacon Govett. He referred to the emulation that prizs* created amongst players. He said the Club was thankful to the donors, especially Messrs J. Ross, O. Samuel, and W Bayly, who, although not playing members, took a keen interest in the game, Mr Samuel bad also given all his legal services to the Club free of charge. Thanks were also due to Messrs J Sauderson and T. K. Skinner for tho valuable services they had rendered the Club free of charga —Mr Cook secondod the vote of thanks, and 'referred to Mr Robs as a gentleman who could bo termed a citizen of New Zealaud. THE DUNEDIN-WELLINGTON-WEST COAST SERVICE. The Omapere is to be put on to run in conjunction with the Herald in the above service. Concerning the future running of these steamers, the following particulars have been gleaned from the September time-tablo:—. Tho Oraapero will start from Dunedin in her new running ou Friday, September 3rd, calk at Timaru, Ak.uoa, Lyttelton, and Wellington on her way up the coast, and arrives in Now Plymouth the following Wednesday, sailing the same day for Greymouth. She is timed to arrive at the Grey and leave there for Westporton the 9th, and proceeds from the latter place to Lyttelton, Akaroa, Timaru, Oamaru, and Dunedin. In that service the steamer will continue until further notice, arriving and leaving New Plymouth every other Wednesday. The Herald will continue to run as at present, reaching" New Plymouth on alternate Tuesdays, and sailing the same day for Greymouth, proceeding from the latter place to a Southern port. The above gives a weekly service direct from Dunedin via way ports, which will be much appreciated by importers.
