GRAND NATIONAL MEETING.
The K"ew Zealand Grand National meeting will be starbsd at Riccarton to-morrow (Thursday), and continaed arid concluded on Saturday. Excsllent acceptances have been received, and additional interest will he centred in the •fixture by pooplo hero owing to the fact of so many Taranaki horses being engaged. Tha principal ovents on the first day -will ba the National Steeplechase of 650 Kovs 1 , 3} miles, for- which the splendid field of seventeen have paid final money. Placet might be filled by Tally-ho or Dummy Perform Tho Friar Hunt«rs' s Hurdles — Puketoi Coattguard Sfc.Woolfstan Maiden Hurdles— ■ - Umslopogoai or Qailtiri Fireworks Axqaebus Winter Handicap— Manawanui . Boreas Moscatel EnSeld Steeplechase-* Kaitoa Justice Puketoi On the second day tha principal event will ba tho Grand National Hurdles, of 600 sots, 2 milos, for which 17 hava paid final moneys. The running in the Maid«n HurdUa on Thursday will probably give a guide in selecting for this event. Places might bo filled by Quiltiri Golden Plover Fireworks x
