OAKURA.

[from our own correspondent.]

We were enlivened here on Thursday evening, Jnne 25th, by a dance got np by the trustees of the hall fpc the purpose of raising funds to get Sriata and a stage for the hall. There wis a very good attendance, 'considering the number of dances elsewhere, on that night and the night after. Mr O. Oxenbam acted as M.0., and kept tho dancing going. Mr Good officiated at the piano, assisted by, iom« gentlemen with violin and ladies at the piano, and everyone appeared to enjoy themselves.

I hear that a troupe from town are to give an entertainment aud dance soon for the good of the hall, and we hope to see a crowded house. I believe the entertainment will be a good one, as the singers are good, especially in tho comic line. I hear that church service is to be held in tho hall aB soon as the seat 3 are in, if they can get it, and I believe they will.

Our Road Board do not appear to enforce the cutting of furze on the roads. There is a danger to travellers, who are liable to get a smack in the face from the branches. The men who do their duty Are said to be officious, and those who don't are not much use on the Board.
