TARANAKI COUNTY COUNCIL.

A special meeting of the Council was hold on Monday. Present : — Messrs Bewley (chairmau), Horrocks, Peters, Okey, McCullum, Tate, Adlara and Connett. The action in accepting tbo tender of J. Griffin for making of tunnel at Oakura for £11 was approved, Mr^Horrocks brought-down an amended financial scheme, which whs adopted as amended . The question of the Waiongona bridge at Sentry Hill was brought up, and it was decided to put it in repair, and tbat an estimate of cost be prepared by some competent person, and placed before next meeting of Council. The clerk was directed to make up list of defaulting ratepayers as provided by law. The repair to a culvert at Mangaone was deferred for the present. Tho Chairman moved, seconded by Mr Horrocks, That it is desirable that by-laws for heavy traffic on County roads bo framed.— Carried. Mr Horrocks brought up the question of damage done to Tariki Road by a contractor. It was decided that a claim be made on Mt G. Capper for damage douc, and the clerk to inform Mr Capper that further claims will be made for any subsequent damage that may be done to any part of the County roads by his timber waggon. Air J. Houlahan wrote requesting an exchange of sections on Koriti Road. The^question was deferred, pending enquiry if the Council has power to exchange. The Council then went inta Committee to consider by-laws relating to regulation of traffic. A circular way read from the secretary of tho County Councils Conference to be held during thu session. Mr Bewloy, the chairman, was directed to attend tbe Conference. Tho Council adjourned.
