KING LEOPOLD'S "VISIT TO ENGLAND.
London, December 3. King Leopold visits England to discuss the Stokes incident. ROYAL SOCIETY. Dr. John Murray has received the medal of the Royal Society to commemorate his services in the Challenger expedition. Sir Joseph Lister has been elected President of the Society. PENINSULAR AND ORIENTAL COMPANY. The P. and 0. Company's balancesheet shows a profit of £179,467, of which £54G7 will be carried forward. The receipts from freights fell below the last half year. The Australian trade, both inward and outward, shows no improvement.
