MR NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION AND PRODUCE REPORT.

At the Haymarket on Saturday pigs were in good demand, slips making from 5s 6d tegs ; small stores, 12s ; calves, 4s to 6s 6d ; hacks, 57s Cd to 110s ; trap horse, £8 10s. At the mart fowls made from Is 2d to Is 8d ; ducks, 2s ; new potatoes, IJd per lb ; maize, 3s 3d ; hams, 6d ; bacon, 2Jd. Mr Rendell's sale of drapery on Saturday and Monday was fairly well attended, and numerous bargains were obtained by purchasers. The sale on the whole was very successful.

Cattle. — There was a good muster of stock at Stratford on Tuesday, but the day was terrible, raining, blowing and cold as midwinter. Bidding was slow excepting for big steers, and these were in good demand. A grand pen of 2-year-olds, from Mr Sinclair, as usual, topped the market at 90s. A great number were sold after the auction, but several pens of 2-year-old steers were sent home. Small calves made 10s to 16s ; yearlings, to 33s ; empty heifers to 52s 6d ; 2-year-old steer 3, 63s to 72s ; Sinclair's, 90s ; cows and calves, 65s 6d ; bulls, 55s to 80s : springing heifers, 70s. — On Wednesday I held a clearing sale at Mangorei, on account of Mr Weigall. The cows were not a firstclass lot, the majority being in milk and the others being backward. Bidding was quiet and prices were on the low side. Cows in milk made 45s to 120s ; backward calvers, 42s 6d to 955.

Land. — This week I have to advise the sale of Mr H. J. Richmond's improved farm at Toko, 208 acres, to Mr F. Bayly, and Mr Powell's 700 acres to Mr Mackay.
