TURF ITEMS.
A sum of £4498 was passed through the totalisators at the National Meeting at Auckland on Saturday. It ii reported that the jumper, Egmont, has been sold by Mr G. Gibson, of Hawera, and that in future the son of Armourer will be used ai a hunter. A Trotting Clab ha 3 been formed at Hawera, and a provisional committoo appointed to start it. Ebor and Ids, 'fall in the Grand National Hurdles on Saturday. The Taranaki pony, Kathleen, was gold before the Auckland meeting with engagements for 76 guineas. The daughter of the Dauphin soon returned her now owners part of her purchase money by annexing ths Pony Hurdle raoe on Saturday.
