FITZROY BOYS' CLUB SOCIAL.

[FROM OUR OWN 00BBB8P0NDKNT.] The Boys' Club at Fitzroy held a most enjoyable social last evening at tho Hall, which has now becomo the property of the Club, and was a groat success sooially and financially. It was estimated there were about,2oo present. On entering the room the first attraction were at the end of the Hall the words " Welcome " in large white letters on a red ground, and at the other " Advance Fitzroy Boys' | Club," the windows being nicely draped with lace curtains, and altogether tho decorations wore neat and tastefully displayed. At ono end of the room are pasted the names of the officers of the Club and then' rules and the nights set apart for amusements which are varied, such as chess, draughts, dominoes, cards and other table games, and asfarasfund* will allow in purchasipg gymnastic apparatus. The officers of the Club are :—: — President, Mr J. W. Foofce ; Yico-Pre-aidenfc, Messrs W. Bewley, E. D. Wcstmacott, A. Drake ; Treasurer, Mr C. F. Footo ; Secretary, Mr F. Bellringer ; Auditors, Messrs S. Hill, and R. Kibby ; Committee, Messrs J. Kibby, G. Colson, P. Page, 0. Allan and D. Gilmour. Precisely at 8 o'clock the President of the Club, in a few neat words welcomed tho friends assembled on behalf of the boys, atid stated that this was the first social since they had purchased the hall, and he hoped to see them a good many times in tho future come together as they had done that evening, that is, to enjoy themselves. He then declared tho social open. Dancing and songs, &c, were interspersed splendidly. The Misses A. and E. Young played a duet, Sans Souci ; Mr H. Cottier, cornet solo, Sweet Marie, accompanied by Mra Gilmour ; song, Jeanette and Jeannot, Miss Jackson; song, Molly and I ancl the Baby, Mr A. Veale ; vocal duot, Musio on the Waves, Mrs F. W. O«ey and 4 Mra D. Gilmour ; recitatation, The Bussard First, Mr Hopkins. Tho following ladies also assisted by playing for the dances : — Mesdames Westmacott arid Gilmour, and Misses Davidson, McLeod, M. and L. Jackson, and A. Young, Tho piano used was a new one by Karl Schumann, kindly lent by Mr S. Hill, ageut for tho London and Berlin Piano Company, and gavo universal satisfaction. Refreshments were handed round by the boys, and the social closed at 1 a.m. Everyone soomed pleased with their evening's amusement, and left longing for tho next, which will tako place on tho Thursday nearest tho full moon of next month.
