WAITARA REGATTA.

TAKES PLACE TO-MORROW. This annual aquatic carnival will come off on the Waitara river to morrow, and promises to be fully up to those that have gone before it. Good entries have been received for all the whaleboats races, and some exciting contests are sure to be witnessed. SpeciaL trains will run from town at excursion fares, returning on the conclusion of the day's sport. The Waitara Brass Band will be in attendance, and every effort has been made to ensure the comfort of visitors. Mr T. Lock has secured the rights of providing refreshments in the enclosures. The following crews have been entered for the whaleboat races :—: — Maiden Wualeboat Race, 2 miles. — Tikorangi, Clifton, and Waitara. Fancy Dkess Wualehoat, 1£ miles. — Tikorangi, Clifton, and Waitara. Junior Whaleboat Race, 1£ miles. — Tikoraugi, Clifton, and Waitara. Champion Whaleboat Race, ,3 miles. — Tikorangi, Clifton, and Waitara. Ladies' Whaleboat Race, A mile. — Tikorangi, and Waitara. All-comehh'- Whaleboat Race, 2 miles.— Tikorangi, Clifton (No. 1), Clifton (No. 2), and Waitara. > Flying Wiialeboat Race, 5 mile. — Tikorangi, Clifton, and Waitara. „ TIPS. Without entering into any discussion of the respective merits of the crews I will just state shortly my fancy for the various events. Maiden.— Clifton 1, Waitara 2, Tikorangi 3.
