FATAL ACCIDENT ON EAST
ROAD.
TREE FALLS ON A TENT.
Fkhkuaky 23. — During the gale on Friday night a tree fell on a tent occupied by three men engaged on the Cooperative road works on the East Road, about thirty miles from here. One of the men, Ward, was killed, whilst another, Cochrane, was very seriously injured. The third man escaped unhurt. The body of Ward has been brought into town, and an inquest will be held at the Club Hotel on Monday morning.
