ENGLISH EXPERT SENT TO

REPORT. On Saturday last there arrived in town Mr H. T. Wales, a coal expert from England, who has been commissioned by an English syndicate to report on the coal prospects of the land leased by Mr Joshua Jones at Mokau. Mr Wales is accompanied by Mr Murton, a gentleman from Australia. It is understood that Mr Wales, Mr Murton, and Mr O'Donoghue (surveyor) were to leave town this afternoon on their way to Mokau to inspect the land. Mr Wales, who is an expert of considerable reputation, is receiving, it is reported, a substantial commission.
