LAND BOARD.

The Land Board met on Monday. Present; — Messrs Strauclion (Commissioner of Crown Lands, chairman), Messrs Living Blon, Stock, Col. Trimble, and Hon Mr Kelly.

Land Transactions. — The appended applications for occupation with right of purchase were granted :— N. Priggen, sec 9, block 8, Uuiroa (460 acres), and Joan. A. B. Foullaire, sec 13, block 8, Huiroa (435 acres).

Defend Payment T'annfeis. — Tho appended were passed : — J. A. Kemp to 11. S. and E. L. Briant, of sec. 24, block 9, Kaupokonui ; W. Arnold to T L. Joll, of sne 75, block 4, Waimalo ; R. and W. Kerrisk, of sec 97, block 2, Ngaire, tho Brard wore of opinion that sufficient improvements had been made on tho land in tho terms of sec 146 of " Tho Land Act, 1892, 1 ' to justify a transfer, and the Board therefore approved of the appli cation made by the occupier. Proudlock iv respect of sec 56, block 10, Kaupokonui, was deferred until the Rangir reportod that the bushfelling now under contract had been completed. License Lott.—R. Q. Gibbs submitted a declaration that lie had lost his license of sec 8, block 14, Waitara. It was decided to issue a new license on payment of the usiml fee. A similar request was granted to W. Blake applied for re-valuation of small grazing run 7, Opaku. —It was resolved to defer the matter pending the receipt of a proper declaration by Mr Gower, and a valuation by the Grown Lands Ranger. Alanaia Sections.- — J. W. FaJkner offered 1 • to lease sees 2 to 5, 7, 13 to 18, block 8, Manaia, at 2s 6d per Bection, upon a yearly tenancy. —It was decided to offer the sections at 5s per section per annum. Sub-letting.— W. Jobßon was allowed to sub-lot to H. W. Strettun part of boo 14, block 8, Hawera, for ten years from Jan 1, 1893. Not Granted.— An application from T. Burkitt to mortgage sec 1, block 11, Huroa, was not entertained, as the improvements were not up to the requirements. Land Sold.— The PubHo Trustee in answer to enquiry will be informed that sec 30. block 14, Opunake, held by a lunatic named McNainara, had been sold on May 11. Te Ngaire Block. — J. Thomson applied for a lease of 100 acres of Te Ngaire block. — Applicant wil 1 be informed that the Board have no power to give a lease on tho terms mentioned in applicant's letter, namely, on perpetual lease. urangi. — The matter of surveying the Purangi township site came before the Board, and it was decided that the work was desirable, and that the surveyor should report fully as to the requirements for reserves and preservation of bush. Deferred.— A. report of persons residing on email runs in tbe Opaku district wag laid before the Board, and consideration wa3 deferred. Special Settlement.— Regarding reserves for school and primary education in tbe Tanner Association block it wan resolved to obtain advite front tho Government as to the powers of the""Board with regard to reserving lands in these associations. Legal Question.— Mr O. W. Govett enbmitted the question aa to whether one holder of a deferred payment license can obtain the freehold of a portion of the property and the other remain under' a license as formerly. — The Board expressed an opinion that it could be don?, but would await the presentation of a specific ease boforo taking definite action. -' The Board adjourned.
