FIRE AT TE AROUA.
Aockiiand, November 7. A fire occurred at Te Aroha, when six shops in Whitaker-street were destroyed, viz : — Meniloe (saddler), Luster (jeweller), Mrs Blake (fancy goods), Williams, late King, (grocer), Miss French (dressmaker), and W. Riggs (shoemaker). Hoskins boardinghouse and Robson's chemist narrowly escaped. Williams is a heavy loser.
BODY OF MAN FOUND. Kaikoura, November 8. The body found on the coast south of hore, is that of a man named Alexander Finlay, who had been here about a year. He was at one time carter at Ashburton. The surroundings and information obtained show that he fell off the rocks whilst fishing.
