THE HOLIDAY.

The anniversary of the birth of tbe heirapparent will be celebrated to-morrow (Wednesday), which will be obsarved ai a close ho'iday iv honor of the event. A number of amusements h ivo b3«n . arranged for the day, and an there is ' every probability of the woa her being fine thuse fixtures should bo well patronised.

THE JUVENILE SPOUTS

in the Recreation Grounds will be. the principal attraction. A programme of 20 events will be gone through, bo that the juveniles will have plenty^ of Bcopo to display their ability aB runners. Th« Committee wisely arranged the programme in classes, the first clasß being open to children under 6 years, the next Byi are, anl so on. Handicaps have been declare-i for a number, of the events, and tho remaining handicaps will be made on the ground. In addition to the running, other amusements, such aa boating on tho lake, will be provided by tho management. The Town Band will be on the ground.

OPENING BOATING SEASON.

I The chief attraction at Waitara wilj b» tho opening of the b ating season ia connection with the Taranaki Regatta Club. A piocession of boats will bo held at 10 45 a.m , after which the following raoeß will bo rowed :— Ladies' Whaleboat Race of £2, ot 11.15 ; Senior Whaioboat Race of £4and£l, at 11.30; Junior Whaleboat Race of £3, «t noon. The Waitara Braps Band will be in attendance.

PRESBYTERIAN BA.ZAAU.

A bazaar for tho purpose of raising funds to build a schoolroom in tho Presbyterian Church grounds will be hold in tfie Alexandra Hall. Tho baziur will bo opened about 2 o'clock. Afternoon tei will be provided from 3 to 5 o'clock, and in the evening a concert will be held. The ladieß who have arranged for the bazaar have a large and varied stock of artie'es to sell, and it is to bo hoped that tho financial result will bo commensurate with the time and labor they Have spent in working the matter up.

CRICKET MATCH.

Tho New Plymouth Cricket Olub have dicklcd to put in a whole day at practice} and accordingly alphabetical teams have been picked from the members. Play will start at 11 o'clock.
