CAPITALISTS REMOVING MONEY FROM NEW ZEALAND.
A correspondent forwards to the Oiago Daily Times, a Jotter recoived from a friend in London who is largely interos cd in the New Zealand frozen meat trade, and bears out all that has been said about the effect of legislation on foreign capital. He writea :— " This new legislation ha* put a stop to the lending of capital. We are just arranging in Edinbnrgh a loan of £20,000 on Borno New Zealand property, when the report of this new bill came out and stopped the thing right away." • The Wellington Press is responsible for the following statement, referring specially to the Auckland provincial district, where, it says, very large amounts have been borrowed for improvements :— " Wo have Been a telegram from a company having its head-quarters in London, ordering tho immediate withdrawal of £11,000 in one sum, which had bean lent on raortguge in the Auckland district, and we are informed that many other instances of the same kind have occurred.. Capitalists in Eng^ land have, indeed, got thoroughly scared."
