The House of Assembly has carried a resolution regretting the death of Cardinal Manning, Brisbane, January 28. t More than Jialf of the country between the Hirers Bulloo and Pargo is devastated by bush fires. Launckbton, January 28. The steamer Rotoinahana is still ashore, although all the heavy cargo is removed. It is feared that the vessel is jammed between two small, rocks. Two powerful tugs' are coming from Melbourne to assist in the work of floating her. A heavy shock of earthquake was felt hero and genorally throughout Tasmania. In the city chimnoys worp levelled to the ground, while the hospital and several privato houses wore damaged.
