TWO LUNATICS AT LARGE. EXPLODE DYNAMITE BOMBS. SEVEN PERSONS BLOWN TO f^ATOMS. New York, December 5. — Considerable excitement was occasioned in this city today, when it was learnt that an attempt had been made to murder Mr Russell Sage, millionaire, and WTeck his office. It appears that a couple of strangers entered the office and demanded a million dollars, on pain of death, at the same time showing dynamite bombs. Their request was refused, whereupon the bombs were thrown on the floor.' A terrific explosion followed, and the building was wrecked. The miscreants, five clerks belonging to the officer and a lady typewriter were killed. Mr Sage and several friends were only slightly injured. The former had a miraculous escape. The perpetrators of the outrage were lunatics, and one of them had developed a suicidal mania The type-writer, who waa in an adjoining room to where the explosion occurred, was literally blown to pieces, while the others who were killed had their limbs broken off. A telegraph clerk and one. of the miscreants' were beheaded. The office which waa wrecked looks as if it had been done by an earthquake, and the adjoining building suffered from the explosion. Mr Sage was attempting to temporise with the men, whereupon the bombs were thrown. New York, December 6. — Another ver- v sion of the above affair was that one of the lunatics carried a bag of dynamite, which he exploded by firing a^ pistol into it. ' -! :
