OUR LOCAL RULERS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib,—ln your issuo of the 3rd you roport tho meetings of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, and Taranaki County Council, which are held upon the same day— Wednesday. Upon these two Boards are found the names of Messrs Price, Lepper, J. Elliot, G. A. Adlam, and A. Kyngdon. Aa these gentlemen cannot devote all the time required for the business of the two Boards on the same day, and represent a large majority at these meetings, would it not be better to have the meetings fixed so that they do not clash. At the Taranaki County Council, after the luncheon adjournment, we read " Mr Elliot was voted to tho chair in tho place of Mr Price, who was unavoidably absent." Docs this mean that Mr Price, with the other members named above, had gone to the Hosp:tal Board to give there their counsel, and coul J not longer attend ? or does it mean bleeding their country for the Boards' members good only? or for the sake of drawing their pay at each of those Boards ? Perhaps the members will, kindJy inform me.—l am, &c , ' Justice.
