Sydney, December 4. Messrs Hadfield, O'Neill, Law, and Sydney, four directors of the Northumberland Co., were arrested to-day on a charge of conspiring to defraud. At a meeting of the Pastures ' and 3tock Protection Society it was resolved to introduce a bill under which a levy might be made of a halfpenny per sheep from owners of flocks of over five thousand, and threepence per hoad of cattle from owners of over one hundred" head, to provide a fund to subsidise meat exportation, in order to encourage the trade and prevent a glut in the local market.
