STRATFORD NEWS.
[FROM OUR RESIDENT AGENT.] Thursday, December 3. — Aa before stated the Fancy Dress Ball hat week was a great success, in spite of the unavoidable absence of, among others, your resident agent. He was stricken with the plague, and was in consequence unable to shed that lustre upon the festive scene, which is wont to invest such gatherings with an effulgence only to bo surpassed — but time presses. I have been supplied with the following information touching the fancy dresses and other matters of interest :— Mrs F. Arden was vary brjghjb and piquant as Gypsy { Miss X, Gardiner had a very pretty costume representing Ivy j Wjss Goocii was much admired as Q-ypsy Queen j Miss Hewer looked well as Aiobulanct) Nurse ; Miss E. Hewer, Flower Girl ; M\ss A. Hewer, Ivy ; Miss McDonald, If achtjng; Mies A. M alono, Grandma ; iljss Alexander Bridesmaid ; Miss Chsavgrs, Sailor's Bride ; Miss Alexander, Brides* maid. The following were in evening dress :— Mesdames Duggan, Walsh, West, Schierney, Gardiner, Curtis, Divehall, Smith ; Misses Gardiner, M. Gardiner, Mace, Young, Newton, Cator, Smith, E. Smith, Kelly, Simmons. Among the gentlemen were Messrs (J. Curtis, Free and Easy ; F. Arden, XIX Century ; Hewer, Ditto ; A. C. Bennett, Romeo ; li Hewer, Sailor ; A. Wind, A.B. of H.M.S. Mystery ; A. Cramer, Sand Jig ; D. Sheehan, Athlete ; H. Mace. Cricketur ; J. Paterson, Sailor ; F. Cramer, Pedlar. In evening dress were — Messrs Adlam, Skeltor., Mathers, Vine, Topfnan, H. Divehall, Jenkinson, Sutherland, Buchanan, A. Aiken, Gorrie, H. Julian. -Most oxcellent music was rendered by Mrs Hewer. The catering was put through in first-olass style by Mr O. S. Curtis. xMr A. O, Bennett ra#do a good M.C., and Miss S: Gardiner was yoted the belle of tho ball.
