TERRIFIC STORM IN NEW SOUTH WALES.

GREAT DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. A terrible hurricane passed over the upper portion of Cooma street, Yass, N.S.W., between 1 and 2 o'clock on November 18th. Lightning and hail with heavy rain could be seen coming in the distance, and the roar of the wind could be hoard rnileß away. All at once it reached the town, carrying everything before it Half of Crago's mills was blown down. Half of Barber's mills and Mr Percy Barber's store were blown down. Sunderland's shop, the whole of the Tribune printing office, and the verandah part of Mr Foot's store were damaged The Commercial Hotel, the new tramway goods shed, Mrs Ledger's residence, and Mr R. Colvin's residence, also suffered. Windows were broken by the dozen. Trees wore uprooted and blown on the tops of the houses. Fences and chimneys were blown down in a'l directions. Tho upper end of the town is one mass of wreckage. Men were blown down in the street. One man named Richardson had his arm skinned from the elbow to the wrist, and had to be taken to the hospital. A man named Cooper was sitting in the Salutation Inn when the roof fell in on him, and hurt him soverely. Trees, zinc, and building materials are lying around for miles. A buggy was carried up into the air and came down ou its shafts, and was broken to pieces. Business is at a standstill at present, and much excitement prevails. The damage is estimated at some thousands of pounds. The men who were injured are progressing favourably. People are covering up their damaged property with tarpaulins.
