AUSTRALIAN TELEGRAMS.
Hobart, November* 18. Paraham, the Manager and Home Accountant of the Launceston branch of the Union S.S. Company of New Zealand, has been charged with embezzlement, and falsifying the books. The defalcations are said to amount to J63000, and tho accused is being prosecuted at the instance of the Tasmanian Steam Navigation Company, he having held the positions for that company before the amalgamation with the Union Company took place. The defalcations affect the amalgamation inasmuch as the Union Company took over the deficient amounts a3 good debts due.
