NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE AT HOME.

The London correspondent of the Auck land Star, under date of March 27, writes — Shipments of butter from Australia and New Zea'and p r Ruapehu, Tainui, Kaikoura, Britannia, Ornba, and Massilia, have been landed and disposed qf at satisfactory rates. The following prices are only, approximate, but will serve to show the comparative values of New Zealand and Australian butter as oompared with Continental and American produce : — Prime Brittany, per cwt., 100s to 118s ; prime Australian, per cwt., 98s to 116s ; prime New Zealand, per cwt., 80s to 114s ; prime American, per cwt., 64s to 965. Good New Zealand cheese sells readily at from 44s to 54s per owt., finest American and Canadian realising 565. *

The tttal amount of last week's arrivals of mutton reached 100,000 carcases. A decline- of 2d.' a stone is recorded. New Zealand mutton ranges in price from 2s 9d to 3s per stone of 81 bs. Lamb sells readily at from 4s to 4s 6d ; while beef realises from 2s 4d (hind quarters) to 3s (forequarters.) Mr J. C. Bone, the butter merchant whom I interviewed some time ago on the Btibject of New Zealand dairy produce in London, considers the present price of your butter fictitious, and says it will fetch 20 per cent less a month hence, when home and foreign produce becomes more plentiful. At present, however, the New Zealand article continues to grow in favour with consumers in London. For. ls 3d a pound Son can now obtain the finest quality of few Zealand butter, and Fm told that it !a quite.as good as any to be obtained from France and Holland.
