Early on Saturday morning the gale increased to almost hurricane force, but so far no damage has been reported, with tho exception of two or three houses being unroofed. The reavy rain has caused a fresh in the Kaueranga and Eirikiri rivers, and has resulted in about 1300 logs being brought down for the Kauri Timber Company's mills, at ■which a large number of men are employed.
