AUiEGSD EMBEZZLEMENT. Auckland, January 21. Two further charges are to be laid against Rawlings in respect of the Banks' accounts of children attached to the Home, who paid in a portion of their wages, on the understanding that accused placed it to their credit. This had not been done. Kawlings acted as treasurer in an honorary capacity for many years. So far as can be ascertained, there is a deficiency of £1300 or £1400. Evidence is now being heard in snpport of the charges. THE PREailEii'3 HEALTH. Wellington, January 21. The Premier's health is not so good as a few weeks ago, and the strain of the last few days has thrown him, back very considerably. The doctors, however, inform him that with complete rest and immunity from worry, there is every chance of his regaining strength. WKATHEU AT WELLINGTON. The weather has been very uncertain for the last few days, but has cleared up now, and promises to be fine for the regatta and races to-morrow?
