BEGIBTBA.B OF PATENTS. "Wellington, [November 4. Mr Edward Gill, Deputy Registrar of Patents, retires from the Government service on compensation, and Mr Frank Waldegrave, Chief Clerk of the Justice Department, will act as Deputy in the absence of the Patent Officer. PLUCKY ABBHiSr. Acting Constable Lacey, of the Permanent Artillery, made a clever capture of a couple of burglars early this morning. When passing Ralph's drapery shop in Cuba-street he suspected all was not right, and obtained an entrance and discovered two men, who gave their names as Patriot Maguire »nd Henry Jones, searching about (he premises apparently for the safe. Lacej closed with the men, and after a short struggle, in which he was assisted by gome compositors from the Ntw Zealand Timeg office, the burglars were arrested. Skeleton keys were founi* on each of the prisoners.
