THE JUBILEE COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Jubilee Committee was held on Monday night, in the Council Chamber. Present : His Worship the Mayor (chairman), Messrs Bauchope, Goldwater, Davis, Govett, Paul, Cock, Webster, MacDiarmid, Standish, Skinner, and E. Humphries (secretary). Suggestions. — Dr. Hutchinson wrote offering suggestions for the Jubilee week, which will be submitted to the Sports and Industrial Committees. An Offer. — A letter was received from the Hawera Orchestral Society offering to give a promenado concert during the Jubilee week. — The offer will receive due consideration when the programme is being finally arranged. Waitaba Regaita Question. — A letter was received from Waitara delegates asking if it was the intention of the Committee to set apart one day in the Jubilee week for the holding of a regatta at Waitara. It was proposed and seconded "That a regatta be held at Waitara in Jubilee week." On being put this was negatived. Industrial Committee. — Mr Mofflin waited on the Committe on behalf of the Industrial Committee, and gave an estimate of the probable receipts and expenditure in connection with the proposed Exhibition. — It was finally decided to guarantee the Industrial Committee against any loss to the extent of £100. Programme. — The programme for the Jubilee week will be drawn up at next meeting of the Committee, on November 17. Fire Brigade Demonstration. — The Committee also decided to ask the Fire Brigade to state definitely by next meeting whether they intend to hold a Fire Brigade Demonstration in Jubilee week. This was all the business.
