♦ UNIVERSITY BOAT RACE.
FULLER PARTICULARS OF RACE. [per press association.] London, March 26. — Cambridge were tho favorites at the start of the University boat race ; as much as 9 to 4 being on the light blues. At Hammersmith they were leading by half a length, and a desperato frtruggle ensued between the rival crews but Oxford gradually wore down their opponents, and at Barnes Bridge had drawn half a length ahead. This distance was increased to a length by the time the winning post was reached. The water was choppy and the day windy, which accounts for the time, 22 mins 3 sees, not being so good as was anticipated. [This is the longest time since 1878 when the race took 22 mins 13 sees. The quickest time on record was in 1873 when the Cambridge team did the distance in 19 mins 35fiecs,
