MELBOURNE SUMMER RACES.

Melbourne, December 26. — At the Turf Club's Summer Meeting to-day there was a large attendance. The weather was intensely hot. The Earl of Uopetoun (the new Governor) was present. The following are the results :—: — Hopktoun Cur (formerly Summer Cup). — Charmer, Bst 41b/ 1; Ernest, Bst 61b, 2; Een Bolt, Bst 21b, 3. Fishwife was iirst past the post, but the jockey had the bad ' luck to lose a stirrup in the race, and on returning to scale failed to pull the weight; he was therefore disqualified, and tho race awarded to Mr Cook's mare. The race was a most desipwato one, and Fishwife only beat The Charmer on the post. Time, 2inin 2(s{sec. STEKi'r.ncHASE. — Grab, 1 ; Fearless, 2; Artichoke, 3. Won easily in smin Bsec.
