DISTILLATION QUESTION.
[PBB PBRBB ASSOCIATION.] Christchuroh, September 19. — Loat evening Sir William Fox t addressed a meotine in the Congregational Sohool, combatting Mr Alfred {founders' assertion that it was preferable to establish Government distilleries to make spirits in this colony than to Bend Home for them, as it waß impossible that th« consumption of Bpiritß would ever cease. Sir W"m. Fox contended that this would place ap enormous power in the hands of the Government, who would be able to" manipulate the grain market bo as to gain; the support of farmers at election times. Mr Saunders replied, denying Sir Wm. Fox's assertions.
