[Pflß PRESS ASSOCIATION.! Brisbane, September 17.— An extensive fire occurred to-day in Eagle-etreet, by which damage to the extent of £300,000 was cauesd. The firo broke out in a large warehouse occupied by D. L. Brown & Co., wholesale importers of general drapery, wines, spirits, &a, and spread rapidly to the adjacent premises ocoupie-i by Barker and Co., general merchants. Bothbuildings were completely gutted, but owing to the exertions of the Fire Brigade the fire was prevented spreading further. Brown & Co. had their Btook and building well covered, their insurances umounting to £101,000. The risks are distributed through nearly all the offiens. Brisbanb, September 19.— Brown & Co. an insured in the following New Zealand Offioeß :— Standard, £2500; South British and Colonial, £2000 eaoh ; New Zealand, £4000; National, £2500. Barker & Co.'s stock was insured in the New Zealand Office for £3000.
