KORU SCHOOL MATTERS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Will you kindly allow me ppace in your valuable papor to correct a few remarks that Mr P. Rinll has made about in} self and others in your last Saturday's isßue. lam not aware that the Rev. H. H. Brown gave Mr Murray (School Inspector) an immoral note, which ho picked up in the Koru Schoolroom about two years past. On inquiry I find Mr Murray never received such a note from the Rev. H. H. Brown. P. Riall has tbe presumption to say Mr Murray handed it to Mr Adla<n, and ly him it was given to Mr Pearson. I (W. Pearson) emphatically deny ever receiving such a noto from Mr Ad lam. About two years ago I received a note from the Rev. U. H. Brown, I (W. Pearson) being one of the local Committee, which he said he picked up !on the school floor. I at once forwarded it to the school teacher. The teacher made strict inquiries and traced the writing of the note to a child of tender years. The teacher gave tbe child a severe lecture and due punishment. So it waa allowed to drop. I know nolbing of any other. I have no hesitation in stating that P. Riall's letter ia incorrect from beginning to end. The fact of the matter is this : P. Riall has quarrelled with the majority of the parents who send their cbildren to the Koru Bchool. People won't associate with him ; I suppose that raffles his temper. The letter appears to me to be written in a most vindictive spirit. 1 know nothing of the notes P. Riall referß to. Re is quite welcome to make such inquiries as he wishes in the mutter, as far as lam concerned. PR. has no children or relations atter, ding the Koru school The public will, I feel sure, see that I am not to blame in this; and it looks as if the letter was inserted to do me an* injury. — I am, &c, Wm. Peabson. Koru, September 18, 1888. TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — I much regret to see the letter of "P. Riall," to which my attention hns been drawn. Tbo facts mentioned in it, though substantially correct, are not altogether accurate. The affair happened long ago. The offenders have been punished. Sure!} it is better to let the matter sink into oblivion, — I am, &c, H. H. Brown. Omata, September 18tb, 1888. [As all sides have bad their eny, we hope now that tho matter will be [ dropped.— Ed. TM ]
