[r'SR PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DEATH OF AN OLD SETTLER. Auokand, August 20. Captain Wingate, harbormaster at Onenanga, died , yesterday. He came to the oolony in 1841. TWO SUDDEN DEATHS, Two married women have died suddenly. Mrs. Giles, Devonport, was lately confined, and attended by a neighbor had recovered; bnt on Saturday night she suddenly fell dqwa and expired. Mrs. gims, residing, at the Sugar Works, Birkenhead, died suddenly on Sunday morning. She -and her husband drank some rum the previous night; but the latter suffered bo ill eflects. An inquest wiU be held in both cases. ' NEWS FROM THE ISLANDS. The Bey. Shirley Baker, Premier ol Tonga, has returned to Auokland per S.s. Richmond. The Tonga News states that when the Bey. Mr. Moulton left he gave a farewell kiss to 182 dusky ladies on the wharf. , The imports and exports for the six months ending 80th June is more than doable the corresponding period of 1887. >
