Adelaide, Attgast 18. The recent report that the Marquis of Normanby was to succeed Sir W. Jttobinson as Governor of South Australia, which caused the Government of that colony to demand a voice in the appointment of the next Governor, is stated to be without foundation. The borings put down at various localities on the Murray FJats have revealed indications of a coalfield. Melboibnb, August 18. The French Consul has expressed it as his opinion that insufficient care was taken of Gasparini, who was allowed the freedom of the ship, and doubts the snioide theory. He thinks more likely that he has been carefully secreted by friends made on board the vessel. A Sydney firm of lawyers had been instructed to Apply for a writ of habeas corpus upon Gasparini's arrival here. Sydney, Aogust 19. A crisis is imminent at Brokong Btation, owing to a difficulty among the shearers. A night attack is expected, and it is feared that the result will end in bloodshed.
