ATTEMPT TO WRECK A TfiAIN. Auckland, September 26. A deliberate attempt was made to wreck a train from Helensville to Auckland on Saturday night, when three large stones were placed on the rails, but were fortunately discovered in time. ! MAORI PEBJURY CASE. At the Supreme Court, in the case of Hoera, for perjury, a new trial was refused, and the prisoner was sentenced to twelve months' hard labour. UTTERING VALUELESS CHEQUES. Aieken, for uttering valueless cheques, was sentenced to 12 months hard labour. SIR JULIUS VOQ EL AT NAPIISR. Napier, September 26. Sir Julius Yogel addressed a orowded meeting on Saturday night. At the close he received a hearty vote of thanks, and a resolution expressing confidence in the Government carried.
