i SCARLET FEVER IN LONDON. I London, September 25. Fifteen hundred cases of scarlet fever are now being treated in the London hospitals, which are filled to their falleefc limits. The epidemic is increasing daily. ANOTHER MAN-OF-WAR FOR AUSTRALIA. The man-of-war Northampton has been ordered to relieve the Nelson as flagship on the Australian station. AGRICULTURAL DEPRESSION. Lord Bandolph Ohnrohill, in addressing a meeting, referred to the agricultural depression, and said it was possible to relieve the farmers only by inoreaßing the Government allowance to local bodies to three millions. MELBOURNE EXHIBITION. The Irish manufacturers have applied for a special annexe at the Melbourne Centennial Exhibition. JENNY LINT* SERIOUSLY ILL. At the wool sales good scoureds and scoured orossbreds are ruling l£d, to Id., and inferior scoured orossbreds Id. to l£d. below the closing rates of the June-July serieß ; greasy and inferior greasy crossbreds are £d. lower ; but good greasy crossbreds show an advance of id. to Id. Western fleeoe wools are unchanged* CAPTAIN COOK'S RELICS. The Standard suggests that under the w;1lw ;1 l of the late Sir Joseph Banks, the collection of relics recently discovered in his museum and purchased by Sir Saul Samuel, belong to the British Museum. CROWN PRINCE OF GERMANY RECOVERING. Beblin, September 24. The Agents-General have informed Mr. Cecil Eaikes, Postmaster-General, that the oolonies decline to re-open the agreement arrived at dividing the oosts and receipts of the new Australian mail contract, according to the quantity of mails carried. They express muoh surprise at the endeavors of the Treasury to disturb the agreement. GOLD EXTRACTION.
