Captain Daldy, chairman of directors of the South British Insurance Company, arrived here from south by this morning's steamer, on his way to Auckland. lie hold a private meeting of shareholders in the office of the local agent (Mr. R. Q. Bauchope). The shareholders appear to be very well satisfied with Captain Daldy's explanation of the Company's financial position. > Ine Courtroom has undergone a transformation from its staid and silent aspect fo cjuite a gay appearance, on account of
a portion of it being walled in by stout calico spread on woodwork. This portion, which is divided into five apartments, has much the appearance of a booth on a racecourse or at some other festive place. The counsels' table has been taken from its accustomed place and put between the bailiff's room and the calico enclosure, and on it will bo placed the ballot-box on Monday next. By having these five apartments five men will be able to vote almost simultaneously. No two voters will be allowed in an apartment at the same time, for if suoh a thing Bhould be allowed one voter could possibly learn how the other voted.
