[from a correspondent.! September 14. — A most successful entertainment was given in the schoolroom at Warea on the evening of Friday last. Notwithstanding the stormy weather, risitors from all parts of the district begnn to congregate at about eight o'clock, and by tho tirno the performance commenced there was <i full room. Mr. J. Burgees occupied the chair, and after he had stated that the proceeds of the entertainment were to go towards buying prizes for the school children and giving them a picnic at Christmas, tho following programme was gone through: —

Fort 1. — Overture, violin and piano, Mr. nnd Miss Putt; song, "The Bellringer." Mr. Lusk; song, "Oh! Tobacco, Fragrant Weed," Mr. Putt; reading, from Pickwick, Mr. Burgess; song, " Scenes that are Brightest," Miss Putt; duet, "Cut and Dog," Miss Corney and Mr. F. Mills; recitation, "Charge of the Light Brigade," Mr. Crawford; song, "Away to the Ware," Mr. Aldridge. Part 2. — Pianoforte duet, Misses Mills; hornpipe, Mr. Aldridge; song, "Maid of Athens," Miss Putt; aong, " Boys, keep away from the Girls," Mr. Lusk; recitation, " Woman's Eights," Mr. F. Mills; duet, " Larboard Watch," Messrs. Lusk and Putt; lecture, Mr Aldridge; aong, " Keep it on the Quiet," Mr. Putt. The performers went through their parts in capital style, and were repeatedly encored. The chairman (on behalf of the School Committee) most heartily thanked the performers for the splendid entertainment they had given; Air, F. Mills for the efforts he had made in getting up the entertainment, and Mrs. Mills for the great trouble she had taken in the commissariat department. Refreshments having been Berved, dancing commenced, and was kept up until daylight. Everyone appeared well pleased, and several who came from a distance were heard to declare the Warea entertainments the beßt in the district.
