"It is simply disgusting," wa? the expression made to-day at the Charitable Aid Board meeting when the drainage of the New Plymouth Hospital was under discussion. It is a good job the placo is in a hill was tho general opinion of the Board, and the members put their heads together to try to devise some method of improving matters. The Central Ward and West Ward Licensing Committees met to-day, but as no business was brought before them nothing was done. It will be remembered that tho New Plymouth Hospital came in for a windfall some timo ago in tho shape of an anonymous donation of £50. In reference to this matter the Charitable Aid Board decided " That the sincere thanks of the Tarnnaki District Hospital and Charitable Aid Board be conveyed to the donor of £50 for the erection of an extra ward for females, and that tho Chairman and Mr. J. Elliot be empowered to take all necessary steps for carrying out the objects of the gift." It is probablo that a' commissioner, representing the Royal Agricultural Society of England, will shortly visit Now Zealand and Australia, to report upon the methods of agriculture in force in the southern hemisphere. Investigation will also be made into the plan of farming on a large and email scale, and also into the system of farm and village water supply. Inquiries of a somewhat analagous nature have been instituted by this society in Canada, and the interesting and instructive reports of their commissioners have recently been issued in the last volume of fhe society's report.
