[per press association.] KELLY GONE TO WELLINGTON. .Auckland, July 2. At a meeting of tho Sheehau aud Kelly supporters it was agreed to request Mr. Kelly to proceed to Wellington at once on the understanding that he will not be opposed on nomination day, and that until ho is able to take his seat he will do his best outside the House for the benefit of the Tauranga district. Mr. Kelly leaves for Wellington on Friday. CHARGE OP ARSON DISMISSED The charge of arson against Louis Dare has been dismissed, there being no prima facie case, or even a presumption of one. FIRE AT THE THAMES. Thames, July 2. A fire broke out at 4.30 this morning in the grocery store of Meares and Co. The fire had a good hold before discovered, but the Fire Brigades were promptly on the spot, and saved the surrounding stores. Insurances — btock, Victoria, £350 ; New Zealand, £850 ; Norwich Union, £100 ; furniture, Norwich Union, £50 ; building, Norwich Union, £50. Origin unknown. EXAMINATION OF SS. IONIC. Wellington, July 2. The diver has completed the examination of the lonic. He reports that there is not a scratch on the vessel's bottom. It is surmised that the vessel must have stiuck something very srft, probably a sandbank. KO LTQUOIi AT EXHIBITION. At a meeting of Exhibition Committee this morning it was resolved that it is inexpedient that alcoholic liquors should be sold at the exhibition. MYSTERIOUS DEATH. The body of a man was found in the harbour this morning, name unknown. Two fixed deposit receipts on the Bank of New Zealand, Masterton, amounting to £155, together with two £5 - notes and some silver were found in his pockets.
