A modified scale of rates, to be charged on vessels calling and sheltering at Albany, Western Australia, has been sanctioned. MR. Mr. Webster, Q. 0., the new Attor-ney-General, was elected for Launceston to-day, by a majority of 43 ; and Mr. Ashmead-Bartlett, who was appointed one of the Lords of the Admiralty, was re-elected for Eye by 187 majority. GERMAN GOVERNOR IN NEW GUINEA Berlin, July 1. It is announced that Admiral Werner has been appointed Governor of the German possessions in New Guinea.
